On Thursday the 25th October, Riddlesdown Collegiate held its second annual Fireworks night. The night of entertainment was organised by the CPA (Creative Performing Arts) College and was intended to raise money in order to buy equipment for the CPA College. The parents described this night as ‘a fun and friendly atmosphere and an enjoyable and vibrant evening’.
The Halloween themed event was not without it ghosts and ghouls, with several costumed visitors walking around as mythical creatures ranging from limping zombies to fairies prancing around. When interviewed, one of the visitors said ‘it really adds to the feel and spirit of Halloween’.
The Jazz band started the night off by playing a variety of pieces. One student who had thoroughly enjoyed the night said they thought the money being raised for the CPA was a good idea as it means more instruments can be provided for the school, which would also help the Jazz band.
Overall the night was described as being a wonderful family occasion. Not only did the teachers enjoy it but many families that came said it was a great evening. Mr Vass, head of CPA, said he hopes that next year they can hold another event similar to this one, he also said they would reflect on this year and make any improvements needed to the next, for example have a BBQ and bonfire to make it even more family friendly. The food would be warm and the fire will take your mind off the cold weather, making it an even more enjoyable night.
